Located only minutes away from Lake Michigan, this winery is a family business that was founded by two cousins. Current owner Niki, one of the two cousins, currently works alongside winemaker Emily and together they manage to craft amazing wine. Each bottle meets high standards for taste and quality, while also staying true to the influences brought by the owner’s Italian roots. 

Their cellar is an ideal venue for wine tasting and guests are treated to a wonderful variety of local wines. It’s also very well suited for events such as parties or bridal showers, comfortably seating up to 25 guests. A regular tasting includes six different wine varieties, each with a special taste and aroma. Also, because wine often puts us in the mood for something to eat, guests can pair their wine with some cheese, pepperoni, or prosciutto.

Fireflies Fun Zone is a top spot for families in the area. It’s located on Calumet Road in Chesterton, housed within a massive building that has laser tag, a playground, and an arcade. Your laser tag adventure starts in a custom-designed 4,000-square-foot arena with special effects, including black lights. Players will get their laser equipment and run around the arena to rack up points as they hit targets on other players.

The indoor playground has a number of obstacles and equipment for jumping, sliding, and climbing, as well as a large ball pit. In mid-March, you can attend the CSHS Craft Show, which takes place about 40 miles from Chesterton in Orland Park. This annual craft show is held at Carl Sandburg High School. Crafters from around the state come to sell their handicrafts, which include options like holiday decorations, apparel, jewelry, accessories, candles, handbags, home decor items, and much more. Additionally, you can sample delicious baked goods from the bake sale, which helps support local educational and community initiatives. Admission to the fair costs $3 per person.

  1. Chicago Handmade Market

Another top event in the area is the Chicago Handmade Market, which is on March 9. This small fair hosts 30 vendors who bring a number of items to sell, such as scarves, funky jewelry, handblown glass items, clothing for adults and children, paper crafts, home decor items, skincare and health products, and other items.
