Trucks are constantly growing in popularity, mainly due to their reputation as vehicles that are up for any task. Indeed, from driving your kids to school to hauling thousands of pounds of cargo, trucks will do an amazing job on any terrain. When it comes to mid-sized trucks, few can compete with the Toyota Tacoma. The 2020 model will be here soon and it manages to improve upon an already great vehicle.

Added Technology and Comfort

Gone are the days when trucks were uncomfortable brutes that ware merely used to get the job done. Nowadays interior comfort is a very important part of designing a truck and modern technology plays a large part in that. The 2020 Toyota Tacoma will be fitted with a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is both intuitive and easy to use. Smartphone connectivity will be available via Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, or USB ports. It will also feature support for Amazon Alexa Auto, helping you control all infotainment functions with the help of your voice.

Other helpful tech features are a keyless ignition system, an LED bed lamp that increases visibility when loading and unloading cargo in the dark, a very useful surround-view camera system, and even a camera that shows what’s happening under the vehicle, helping the driver get a better view of any off-road obstacle.

Great Power and Performance

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma’s base engine is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder 2.7-liter that is capable of producing up to 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. While that should be more than enough for most Tacoma drivers, for extra performance and off-road capability there’s also a V-6 available, producing up to 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. The shocks and rear springs have been re-tuned and redesigned, with the result being improved comfort, but also added performance.

Towing capacity is one of the most important performance indicators for pickup trucks and the 2020 Toyota Tacoma will be able to tow an impressive 6,800 pounds, with any of the two engine options. Another major performance indicator is obviously off-road performance and the Tacoma is definitely properly equipped for that, with a push-button locking rear differential, crawl control system, hill-descent control, and five different traction control modes.

Modern Active Safety Features

Trucks can also be family cars, so safety will always be very high on the list of priorities. The 2020 Toyota Tacoma will come with the Toyota Safety Sense P active safety bundle as standard, with many useful active safety features available. Functions such as pre-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, radar cruise control, or lane departure warning will help the driver identify and avoid any potential danger anywhere around the Tacoma.

Improving on an already great product is hard in any industry because it means exceeding very high expectations. The 2020 Toyota Tacoma manages to add to its comfort, tech, design, performance, and safety levels, with the result being a spectacular mid-sized truck that is definitely up for any task.
